Biotin, also known as vitamin H and coenzyme R, is a water-soluble vitamin and also belongs to the B vitamin group, B7. It is essential for the synthesis of vitamin C and is indispensable for the normal metabolism of fats and proteins. It is a necessary nutrient to maintain the human body's natural growth, development and normal human function and health.

Biotin is white or off-white crystal or crystalline powder. It is a water-soluble vitamin, slightly dissolved in water and ethanol, insoluble in other general organic solvents, and dissolved in dilute alkali solution.
